WHAT IS DRIFTING ?

Drifting is a very unique Motorsport where a three panel judging system is used to evaluate on 4 main criteria; Speed, Line, Angle and Impact. Points are awarded during qualification runs where the top 16 are chosen to battle tandem style during the main event. This is the only Motorsport where it is not about being the first to cross the finish line but which driver fights the hardest for the championship points. This recipe keeps fans on the edge of their seats as they witness driver’s tandem battle for what is to be considered the “Stanley Cup” of Canadian Drifting; the coveted DMCC Cup.

Drifting is the act of maneuvering a vehicle through corners at speeds and angles that exceed the vehicle’s grip. A drift is when a driver performs a controlled slide through corners while adhering to the racing line.

Drifting is so popular because it brings all the best aspects of motor sports into one package. Highly skilled drivers control a high powered street car past it’s limit, sideways at high speed, burning rubber, just inches from their competitors. You can’t get a better visual impact anywhere. Hardcore fans feel the rush from the edge of their seats, screaming and cheering for their favorite drivers while pushing them to their limits. Drifting is a combination of driving skill, style and showmanship. It’s all about loss of the rear wheel traction while keeping the race car in total control.

The popularity of the sport is experiencing growth like no other sport in the world. The media have taken a greater interest, spectators are lining up to watch events worldwide and more organizations and drivers are being brought into the world of drifting on a daily basis.
